It’s no one’s business, but you might as well hear it from the source and we can all hopefully avoid some awkward conversations. In my opinion, no one on social media needs the heavy stuff so here’s an obituary of The Braskey Marriage (I am keeping both last names by the way). At this point, all I feel like doing about the past is honoring the good and know that going forward, there is happiness ahead for both of us.

The Braskey Marriage between these two passionate people has had a few near death experiences in the past two years but took its last breath early in 2017. Jasper and Alex met in Wausau, WI, in 2008 when Jasper was home briefly before leaving for Germany and Alex was about to move to Hawaii before heading to OCS in Rhode Island. They kept in touch and later that year, Alex left the Navy and moved in with Jasper in Charlotte, NC. They had seven months together in Charlotte before Jasper’s first deployment as a civilian contractor; it was the time of their lives and where they added the first addition to their family, a brindle pit bull mix named Bunker.

After Jasper’s first overseas deployment (of their relationship, he had military deployments prior to their meeting), the pair spent time in Mexico before travelling home to visit family and welcome a beautiful black and white German shepherd named Kinzley to their tribe. Before Jasper’s second civilian deployment, the pair settled in Raleigh, NC.

Alex and Jasper spent the following summer in Myrtle Beach before deployment #3, when Alex returned to Wisconsin to be closer to family while Jasper was away. During deployment #4 they closed on a house with 45 acres in Gleason, WI (which is for sale y’all, someone buy it).

After deployment #4, the duo was married at the Forever Grand Chapel in Las Vegas in the company of close friends and family and had a killer party on the outdoor terrace of their two-story suite at the MGM Grand. Somewhere in there, Jasper became Bill Braskey and so upon marriage, they became known as the Braskeys (I’m not kidding we get so much mail addressed to the Braskeys the postal people probably think we have a double life).

Upon returning home, they settled into their home and found the third love of their life in the back of a van in the parking lot at Piggly Wiggly and named her Winnie. She is a Siberian husky that completed their dog tribe.

A week after getting Winnie they found out they were going to have a baby. In preparation, Jasper went to New Mexico to be trained for a new job in Iraq. He spent 8 weeks in training and 9 weeks deployed during the pregnancy and on June 28, 2012, they welcomed Mac Jacob into the world.

Nine deployments followed Mac’s birth. Between said deployments the family enjoyed time at home and traveling to places such as Hawaii, Colorado, Myrtle Beach, California, and many trips to Chicago and Minneapolis.  Jasper moved home for good in January of 2016. They tried to work things out a few different times but realized they couldn’t force something that wasn’t meant to be.

They have a deep respect for each other’s professions as well as as parents. They will have equal time with their children and preserve a loving memory of their time together for the sake of their family and mutual friends.

Survivors of their relationship include Alex, Jasper, their son Mac (4), their three dogs, Bunker (8), Kinzley (7), and Winnie (5), their unborn child due July of 2017, their entire family and every single one of their friends. It’s been raining for a while and everyone is ready for the rainbow at the end of this thing.

No autopsy will be performed as no foul play is suspected by any involved parties. So seriously, stop analyzing. We have.

In lieu of flowers, please send baby gifts. That’s only partially a joke.
